Watch Me Go...
What if confidence isn't what makes us act, but what we build by acting?
We are often told to believe in ourselves.
Be more confident. Overcome self-doubt. Stop being afraid. Then take the opportunity, start the business, walk into the room, have the conversation or make the change.
But this creates a problem.
If we believe confidence must come before action, what happens when confidence never arrives?
In Watch Me Go, Elliot Kay challenges the assumption that we need to feel ready before we move. He explores a different possibility: confidence is not always the cause of action. Very often, it is the consequence of it.
When we take action despite uncertainty, something important happens. We create evidence. We discover that we can walk into the room. We can survive rejection. We can learn the skill. We can recover when something goes wrong. We can do something today that yesterday's version of ourselves wasn't certain was possible.
That experience begins to change the story we tell ourselves about who we are and what we are capable of.
Speaker coach Elliot Kay is stepping back on the TEDx stage in place of David Scott and we look forward to seeing him shine (and putting into practice everything he's been work on with his speaker group)
