Julian Brown
Independent Creator and Founder of NatureJAB
Julian Brown is an independent creator and the founder of NatureJAB.
Since his late teens, he has spent several years developing and publicly documenting a series of small-scale prototypes exploring the use of microwave-assisted pyrolysis in relation to plastic waste.
Working largely outside traditional institutions, Julian has shared the progress, setbacks and lessons of his journey with a substantial online community interested in invention, experimentation and environmental challenges.
At TEDxNorthernQuarter, Julian will explore what it means to begin pursuing an ambitious idea before possessing conventional credentials, established status or institutional backing. Drawing on his own experiences, he will consider how curiosity and persistence can help young creators take their first steps, while also recognising the importance of safety, humility, responsibility and openness to evidence.
Julian’s talk is a personal exploration of the mindset required to pursue difficult ideas. His appearance at TEDxNorthernQuarter should not be interpreted as independent scientific validation or endorsement of any technology, product or commercial venture associated with his work.
